About Robert Love

Hi I'm Robert, General Manager of Product & Engineering. What I love about my job is telling people what we do at Pollenizer and how we do it.

Whilst working at Pollenizer my biggest learning has been knowing when to pivot or persevere. For me a startup is like being in a rock band but without the noise-induced hearing loss and the groupies.

Before Pollenizer I worked at HotelClub, an online travel company. In my spare time, with the help of my two young boys, I make vain attempts to ward off the onslaught of middle age spread.
  1. An Evening with Sir Tim

    by on

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending Then, Now, Tomorrow: What’s next for the World Wide Web? – the first City Talk of 2013 presented by the City of Sydney in partnership with UTSpotlight. What made this event so extraordinarily special is the fact that it featured Sir Tim Berners-Lee. Now, if you don’t [...]

  2. Hypotheses, Success Metrics, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria

    by on

I recently attended a Pollenizer Academy course – The “Lean Product Manager” by Pollenizer’s very own Michael Dijkstra. One of the most useful sessions for me was “The MVP”, where Michael showed the class how to write effective Hypotheses, Success Metrics, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria. For every feature on every business we build at [...]

  3. Pollenizer Academy Kicks-Off

    by on

Eric Ries says; “Entrepreneurs are everywhere. You don’t have to work in a garage to be in a startup.” He’s right, but they did work in a garage last night when we premiered Pollenizer Academy. With a background in theatre, Pollenizer Co-Founder, Phil Morle, was unable to resist the mise en scène afforded by the [...]

  4. Win a Ticket to #swarmconf

Are you a Community Manager or community enthusiast who wants to connect with other Community Managers, share resources and best practices, soak up information and have brain waves whilst having an all-round awesome time? Well – swarm conference is for you! #swarmconf 2012 line-up [...]

  5. WeTeachSydney: Lean Startup Methodologies

    by on

Tonight, I had the privilege of speaking to a crowd of startup-types at the WeTeachSydney: Startup and Business Speed Teaching event at Fishburners in Ultimo. My topic was “Lean Startup Methodologies” and the objective was to try and get across some key points within fifteen minutes. I sped quickly through some key definitions of what [...]

  6. Research and Development Tax Incentive

    by on

Are you innovating with technology? I mean really innovating? Experimenting, taking risks, going where no (wo)man has gone before? If you are, then you’re eligible for the Research and Development Tax Incentive. The programme is jointly administered by AusIndustry (on behalf of Innovation Australia) and the ATO and replaces the Research and Development Tax Concession as of 1 July 2011. What is the R&D Tax [...]

  7. Fierce Conversations

    by on

Last week, I was lucky enough to attend the National Growth Summit 2012. I’m typically sceptical of any conference that appears, on the surface, to be a Kool-Aid pop stand for CEOs, but I have to admit – it was awesome! Day one included speakers such as Jim Collins, Fred Reichheld and Jack Daly – [...]

  8. Signal to Noise

    by on

A current theme for Pollenizer is “noise”. In short, we want to make some – we want to be heard. To that end, the Engineering team have decided to open-source the software we write here on a daily basis. The change is that, traditionally, all the software written by the Engineering Team has been locked [...]
